ideal standard

ideal standard was a radio show devoted to electronic, minimal and experimental music broadcasted in Strasbourg. We played each thursday night, then we did it on monday, we did it twice on friday but didn't liked it. Nowadays, we're thinking actively about what to do now that it's over, wich leads us, actually, having no time doing anything at all. You can check out our site for more information.

idmix13 - 27/06/05 : 60 minutes of net ambient, first broadcasted on RBS / Strasbourg. Though this is the first time for a while that I allow myself to get a little bit moody, I promised myself not to get too sentimental. So, hey, it's thank-you time I guess... Many thanks to all the artists and to their respective netlabels. Thanks to everyone who came by to play records, everyone who sent some contribution, and everyone who came by just to be there, you're way too many to mention. I owe a...

ideal standard 17/01/05: a subjective sinewaves compendium A 60 minutes minutes walk, from ambient to (almost) techno, through the sinewaves collection, definitly one of my favourite netlabel. First broadcasted on RBS / Strasbourg the 17th January 05. Many thanks to Alberto, Mark, Hue, and to all the sine3pm family. sinewaves born in november 2001 in a rich and narrow minded village in the north-east of italy. born as a personal archive, it changed its essence in something decidedly different....

ideal standard 13/12/2004 72 minutes net ambient only. First broadcasted on RBS in Strasbourg, ex-hometown of Christmas, France. Do you ever wish to be a cow-boy, riding through wide open spaces, while the sun slowly sets down in your back, and some epic whistle slowly rises? I do again these days, except i'd rather walk through wide empty streets at night. I never liked cows or whistling though. Oh, and please consider this as some kind of Christmas present.

"This is possibly the best party I've ever experienced: the crowd was so reactive, so deep into it, their eyes were filled with gentleness. I'm telling you, playing for such an audience is certainly the best thing I've done so far. I definitly want to go there again." Smokey Bear, 01.05.05. Hmm, what can I add to this? So this is idmix12, this time almost an hour of minimal techno mixed by Smokey Bear of Cheval Detroit and first broadcasted on ideal standard / Strasbourg the second...

ideal standard 28/02/05 a special party mix for a special party girl (78 min. mix of minimal techno) Hello special friends, Eleven mixes online, and not even a single one with that good old straight bass-line? This had to be changed, it's now done. Forgive the technical mistakes, and let's move along to tracks on Textone and Unfound Sounds, two special netlabels releasing special minimal techno. Let's give them a special thanks for their special work! And let's dedicate this special idmix to a...

Last months have been awfully cold up where I live, I cannot remember having seen so much snow since I was a kid. Back in those days, I almost prayed for the snow to fall, desperatly wishing for the snowballs season to open once again. As a teenager, I kept on wishing for snow since it could have made it impossible for the bus to drive us at school (which never happened though). Now, as a grown up something, I cannot help myself quoting a girl I met some weeks ago. It's a kind of haiku she...

ideal standard 29/11/04: 70 minutes of net ambient meant for lonely night wandering. First broadcasted on RBS / Strasbourg. I always have mixed feelings when thinking of the town i'm living. Somehow i never got comfortable here, and i know many friends who left Strasbourg like thieves. Sometimes for professional reasons. And sometimes because they just could'nt cope with it any longer. There must be something wrong in the air we breathe, perhaps it's the fact that almost nothing happens, and...

It's wintertime, you know. Staying at home, drinking coffee, watching the snow, and spending some time to play cards with good friends, sharing nice conversations while drinking some tea or whatever you please. Thinking about your ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend. Then suddenly feeling the need to cheer up, and to turn the heat up. Oh, this is ideal standard, one hour net ambient, first broadcasted on RBS/Strasbourg the 7th february 2005. And it's my small contribution to help you through...

"As John Cage has insisted,"there's no such thing as silence. Something is always happening that makes a sound." (Cage has described how, even in a soundless chamber, he still heard at least two things: his heartbeat and the coursing of the blood in his head). Similarly there is no such thing as empty space. As long as a human eye is looking there is always something to see. To look at something that's "empty" is still to be looking, still to be seing something - if...
